MARCH GIVEAWAY POST... Music notes, rainbow butterfly and wishes!

Hello and welcome to March!

February seems to have flown by even with an extra day in it! I guess that comes from being busy with painting classes in Anchorage the first two weeks of February and I feel like I've been playing catch up ever since! I haven't had a lot of time for making cards but I do fit into what little time I do have for practicing a technique, trying new to me products and just having fun making cards! It's my relaxing time as well as my business (I do sell my cards). 

Today's cards were put together pretty quickly from various pieces I had laying around. How is it that sometimes you make pieces and can't find a way for them to fit onto a card and other times they seem to fall into place all by themselves! The butterfly is vellum and colored with Copic markers on the back side. It was a practice piece that I die cut after trying to decide what to do with it! It makes a great butterfly! The sentiment is from My Favorite Things "Brushstroke Birthday Greetings" with glossy accents to make it super shiny and some black half pearl gems from my stash finishes it simply.

The second card I did a lot of ink blending with Ranger distress inks through a Clear Scraps music notes stencil. It's a large stencil (12") but works great for a card! Afterwards I spritzed the ink with Perfect Pearls to make it shimmery. A simple sentiment from Papertrey Ink ("Hello Sunshine" set) and a few blue-colored gems makes this clean and simple card complete.

Why monthly giveaways? I have won several blog hops and have other card-making supplies that just aren't my style so instead of trying to sell any extra supplies I have decided to "share the kindness" and host a monthly giveaway for two weeks on the first of every month. I have enough for a giveaway a month through 2016 so come back every month to see what the new items are! There will always be stamps (some new and some used but in great condition), dies, paper packs, embellishments and stamping tools!

I've been busy painting instead of card making lately as I've been teaching One Stroke painting classes in Anchorage! (I'm a One Stroke Certified Instructor: OSCI).  These classes are almost done so I'll be getting back to card making again after next week!

My most popular class has been a penguin canvas tote bag but I had students who wanted puffins instead of penguins are there are NO penguins in Alaska (bet you didn't know that did you?! Lol) So I adapted the penguin idea into a puffin instead! It's become more popular than the penguin class! I've also been busy with hummingbirds and the photo of this one was what I cut out (and by doing so made it look better, cutting off the larger head and belly) and I'll be using it on a card at some point!

Anyway, just wanted a quick post today! I'll leave you with some photos of my amaryllis in bloom and a scenic shot of one of our birdfeeders!

Happy February! Can you believe January 2016 has come and gone already!? I'm stunned to tell you the truth!

I got the Heidi Swapp Minc machine for Christmas and have only used it a few times but oh the fun! I used teal foil on a large sheet of toner paper and die cut birthday greetings, confetti and bows for balloons with it and added them to a kraft card base! (I'll find the paper pack I got the patterned paper from and add that info later... I rarely use patterned paper!). I thought with these colors these cards had a masculine feel to them with the striking black against the teal colors. Wink of Stella glimmer in a few places adds to the festive feel!

Onto the giveaway... as I said in January, I've been purging some of my card-making supplies and you will benefit from it! I've also won a few blog hops and giveaways recently and so the items that don't suit my style of card making will be given away as I host monthly giveaways at the beginning of each month! Some of these are brand new items and some have been used but are still in very good condition! I have stamps, dies, patterned paper, embossing folders and embellishments in my giveaways and I have enough for eight moths of giveaways so far!
