Giveaway Winner...JOY Pine Branch Card

Hello and welcome,

I've contacted the winner of the November giveaway and am waiting to here from her! I'll give her a few days to respond since she lives in the Netherlands (hint, hint as to who it is!). While I can't mail her the prize since I won't mail outside the USA, I can mail it to someone she chooses as a gift from her or someone who will send it too her. I'll put her name here when I hear from her...

UPDATED: I've had to pick a new winner due to not hearing from the first one chosen so

KREATIVE KRISTIE

won the Altenew cardinal stamp set! Congratulations Kristie! It's going into the mail ASAP!

One of my many Christmas cards, this one will go to my brother in Nevada. I used the Concord  & 9th JOY stamp set for the large JOY sentiment done in Tsukineko Delicata Golden Glitz then over stamped with Versamark ink and clear embossing powder heat set over it to keep that gold glitz front and center! I used Stampin' Up Definitely Decorative Pinecone in Stampin' Up Glorious Green ink for the evergreen needles and Stampin' Up Close to Cocoa pine cones and splatters. I used a Hero Arts sentiment from the Heavens Rejoice set to go around the JOY and just masked using my MISTI to over stamp it in Stampin' Up Ruby Red ink. I used the Wink of Stella pen in green glitter to draw my own pine needles over the stamped ones because I just gotta add glimmer to every card! (He'll never even notice it, I'm sure!). I mounted it on a Gina K Designs kraft card base to finish it.

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless!

Giveaway Ends Nov. 24... Grateful & Blessings!

Hello and welcome,

Just a reminder that my November giveaway ends on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th at midnight Alaska time! Go to this post to see how to enter and what Altenew stamp set you can win!

Here's a few Thanksgiving cards I made with the Winnie & Walter set and Stampin' Up wheels that I've unmounted and used in my MISTI! The top two cards I used distress markers in greens, reds and orange and the "thumping" technique to the stamps. I used Stampin' Up Close to Cocoa ink for the sentiments and Wink of Stella glimmer pen coated with glossy accents for shine. The Nuvo drops added just the right touch of fun to each card!

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless!

November Giveaway... Blue Bird Birthday

Altenew's winter cardinal stamp set... I have an extra for my November giveaway! See below!

Hello and welcome,

November has come and I can't believe we're so close to the holidays now! I wanted to use my new Altenew Winter Cardinal stamp/die set in the non-traditional way so I made him blue! I think he kind of looks like a bluejay/Stellar's jay, except their heads are mostly black rather than just the mask. I used some Hero Arts, Gina K Designs and Stampin' Up inks for all the blues onto Gina K Designs heavy base weight card stock.  I used my Spectrum Noir shimmer pen on the dark areas of the bird. The background is an experiment with Brushos in yellows and greens. The branch (and bird) is die cut from the same combo stamp and die set from some Gina K Designs dark brown card stock. The sentiment is a combination of Papertrey Ink and Hero Arts. I added Nuvo drops in glossy black!

You can see the shimmer of the glitter pen on this photo.

Now on to the giveaway! I have the Altenew Winter Cardinal stamp set to giveaway because I accidentally bought two of them! Lucky you! See giveaway instructions below! I'll mail this out the Monday after Thanksgiving to the winner so they can get their own cardinal cards done for Christmas!

This is my used Altenew set but winner will receive the new set when it comes in the mail!

This giveaway will run through November 24th, Thanksgiving Day and I will pick a winner on November 25th!

To win all you have to do is:

4. BONUS ENTRY: For a bonus (4th) entry, repost on your blog, Instagram account or Facebook page about my giveaway and leave the link in the comments on this post only.

That is four entries total per person. You have until midnight Alaska time November 24th to do one or all four ways of entering for this giveaway. I will pick a winner and contact them on November 25th. Sorry USA entries only due to shipping costs.

Birthday Wishes Bird... October Giveaway Winner!

Hello and welcome,

I'm still waiting for the October giveaway winner to contact me... so you may still have a chance at winning it if I don't hear from her by Thursday, October 27th! I've emailed her and am waiting to hear from her!

*******UPDATED: WINNER IS MARIE FLAYER AKA NJSTAMPING QUEEN********

This card was hard to come by because I'm terrible at multi-layer stamping! It took several tries to figure out how to do it for me! Personally, I do light to dark in stamping... lightest ink is the bottom layer (the most solid layer) with darkest ink on top (usually the sketchiest details). That's probably how you're supposed to do it anyway but I needed to learn that for myself by doing it multiple times!

This card combines three different stamps from Hero Arts (bird), Altenew (branch) and Papertrey Ink (sentiment). And inks from Hero Arts, Stampin' Up, Ranger and Gina K designs. It was worth the effort because I think it turned out very nice for a fellow co-worker/friend!

I'll let you know next weekend if I have to pick another winner! It could be you! ;)

Cheers! October giveaway ends Tuesday!

Hello and welcome!

Just popping in to remind you that the October giveaway ends this Tuesday, October 18th! You have until midnight Alaska time Tuesday night! Here's what you can win:

Go to the original giveaway post here to see how to enter!

I did this birthday card for a friend and co-worker! I just love these ladies from Impression Obsession! This one is from the set called "Wine Diva" and I stamped it in Ranger archival jet black ink. I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens to color with but didn't use water, just the pens for blending. I added Nuvo crystal drops in red. I stamped the inside with the same ink and two sentiments from the same stamp set! My co-worker loved it!

Thanks for stopping by and God bless!

October Giveaway Starts Today... Hello from Alaska!

Hello and welcome!

Happy October! I can't believe so much of this year has just flown by! I've been playing with distress inks to make some galaxy cards! And because I live in Alaska I've made them Alaska themed!

My card uses lots of Ranger distress inks and Perfect Pearls spray for the shimmery background and Simon Says Stamp die cut star! The mountain scene is an older Great Impressions stamp that I love to use on Alaska type cards! It's not Denali by any means, but it reminds me of Alaska! I backed the mountain scene with glitter black cardstock and foam mounted it to a Gina K Designs heavy weight cardstock. The HELLO and "from" is from Winnie and Walter "The Big, the Bold and the Happy" set. I wrote the word ALASKA because I don't have a stamp... yet! I decided to keep the background with color and the mountain scene just black and white or it would be too busy with both of them colored. I used Judikins diamond glaze on the star and sprinkled dark blue glitter on it before it dried for a little extra sparkle.

I've had requests from customers for Alaska themed cards and so I will continue with that venue for awhile!

September Giveaway Winner... A Reworked Moose Card

Hello and welcome,

I had this card for sale originally with just the moose and the "Hello" sentiment stamped in Hero Arts Cup O'Joe brown ink but decided to rework it with Prisma color pencils and masked off the moose then added mountains and trees from an older Great Impressions stamp! Now I know my coloring needs help but I need to practice so here's one of my practice pieces that I can send to a friend!

And this is where the MISTI tool is invaluable... after coloring the image I lost the details on the moose, so I used my MISTI to align the moose stamp up again and restamp it in Versafine detail black ink! It proved to give me back the details I wanted and give a sort of 3D effect to the moose! Here are a couple of close up shots of the moose... he looks like he's looking back at ya! I used a black Sakura Glaze pen (for 3D effect too) to touch up his eye to give it more life-like appearance! I used Glossy Accents over the "Hello" to add some shine and texture!

Are you ready for the giveaway winner....

September Giveaway Starts Today... and Ombre Sympathy Trees

Hello and welcome!

Happy September and Happy Labor Day! I've had four glorious days off of work and finally caught up on projects that have been on hold all summer!

This sympathy card was a quick one using Hero Arts gray to black ombre ink pad. I stamped the (I can't find the stamp company name because I unmounted it from a wooden block?) trees stamp on Gina K Designs kraft card stock twice. I used a Copic multi-liner to connect the mountains in the background. Then I stamped Winnie & Walter's "with sympathy" sentiment from The Big, the Bold and Comfort set in Ranger archival black ink. Clean, simple, one layer and on kraft!

SEPTEMBER GIVEAWAY TIME!!!

September giveaway includes: Studio Calico & Live, Love & Paper's gnomes and hedgehogs stamp set from the Penny Arcade Card Kit, foil sequins; 8" long acrylic block, and We R Memory Keepers/Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Pinking Ovals dies (6).

Giveaway Winner... "I Moosed You" card

Hello and welcome!

The August giveaway winner is...

PEGGY ORMASEN

who liked and shared my Facebook post about the giveaway! Congratulations Peggy! (I happen to know Peggy from when we lived in Haines, Alaska so this thrills me for her to have won!)

My September giveaway will start Labor Day weekend so stay tuned!

My card today is another "Alaska" themed card I made to sell at the local Palmer, Alaska Friday Fling art fair. I had requests for cards with Alaska scenes on them so this is one of many I've done! This has a painted panel of blue metallic acrylic paint! I stamped the Misty Mountain Rubber Stamps "Moose collage" stamp in Hero Arts white pigment ink after the paint dried. It took some time for the ink to dry but eventually did! I used a thin strip of black glitter tape to offset if from the Gina K Designs base weight white card stock. I stamped (an unknown company)  "I moosed you" sentiment in Gina K Desings Blue Denim ink.

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless!

August Giveaway Ends 8/18... Matanuska Glacier Birthday!

 Hello and welcome,

Just a quick reminder post about my August giveaway that is ending soon! You enter the giveaway on the original post here! Some great prizes and here's a photo of them

UPDATED: BIG OOPS! I tagged this post in some links of my card project and had added the giveaway ends 8/18 instead of 8/16... so to keep it fair I'm extending the time to midnight Alaska time on Thursday, August 18th! Good luck!

Just be sure to enter by midnight Alaska time Tuesday, August 16th on the original giveaway post! I am working six days this week so I will close the entries at that time and pick a winner but probably not contact the winner until Sunday! (SEE UPDATE ABOVE FOR CORRECTION!)

My card is for my husband's 60th birthday! We went and walked on Matanuska Glacier on his birthday for the second time but this time we had our daughter, Megan, and seven year old grandson, Logan, with us! It was their first time and both were suitably stunned by the event!

My card started with a Hero Arts stencil called Elegant Pine. I used Wendy Vecchi translucent embossing paste on it with some ultra fine glitter that I colored with Mowed Lawn distress ink. Then it sat for a very long time... months in fact! Then when I needed a card for my husband, who adores walking in the wild woods around our Alaskan cabin to nearby Granite Creek, I picked it up along with a panel I had white heat embossed with Stampin' Up pine branch and then used more distress ink to brush in a background. I didn't like the look of glittery tree for my husband so I used some distress paint in blue to mute the glitter effect. It worked perfectly! I adhered the tree to the pine bough panel. Then using two different My Favorite Things dies (Brushtroke Birthday Greetings and Blueprints #26) I adhered them in front of the tree. I decided to do the Happy in front of the Birthday greeting and pop it forward for some extra dimension. The numbers are from Papertrey Inks By The Numbers die set in black card stock and then Glossy Accents over it to make dimensional and shiny!

He loved it, of course! And his 60th birthday was a memorable one! I'll post some glacier pictures in my giveaway winner announcement post!

Thanks for stopping by and God bless!

August Giveaway Starts Today... Moose Card & Video!

Hello and welcome!

It's been a busy summer here in Alaska but Fall seems just around the corner... as evidenced by the return of the moose! *See the dancing moose video at the end of this post that I took a week ago!*

My card today features a stamp by a local Alaskan company called Misty Mountain Rubber Stamps out of Juneau, Alaska. I love their stamps because they are high quality and Alaska themed! I stamped the moose in Ranger Archival Jet Black ink and masked him off to stamp the pine trees from the Stampin' Up set "Lovely as a Tree". I did some second generation stamping first to make the trees lighter in color compared to the moose. I doodled in the ground so he has something to walk on! I found this "I moosed you" stamp at a thrift store and it's perfect for my moose-themed cards! I wanted to keep it simple but it still needed a little something so I added black dots with my Copic multi-liner pen. I rounded the corners and he's done! A clean and simple one layer card for anyone! It's for sale at my booth at the local Friday Fling art market (or contact me to purchase it if you don't live in Alaska and  any other cards I show, if available. Cards are $6 and that includes a stamped envelope to mail it to your recipient and shipping it to you)!

AUGUST GIVEAWAY INCLUDES: Colorbox ink stack; Hero Arts "Cupcakes" stamp set (one stamp is stained but works perfectly!), Cuttlebug "Snowfakes" embossing folder, Fruit Punch Stickles and die set below.

AUGUST GIVEAWAY INCLUDES: Lifestyle Crafts/Quikutz Drink Sleeve die set (I only have three of six dies).
This giveaway will run through August 16th and I will pick a winner on August 17th!

July Giveaway Winner...and Motorcycle Masculine Cards!

Hello and welcome!

I have the July giveaway winner to announce and some masculine cards to share with you!

First off, the winner of the July giveaway is none other than...

SIMPLYNEADERS

who liked my Instagram post about the giveaway! Yes, it's that easy to enter my monthly giveaways! Be sure to stick around for the August giveaway that starts August 1st!!

My cards have definite masculine tendencies to them from a FABULOUS kit by Close to My Heart called "URBAN" that I won from a blog hop! I don't use patterned paper very often but I adore the paper in this kit! The stamp set is AWESOME to say the  least! So grungy and rad for both boys and men! It has some extra fun pieces like the buttons (second card from top) and twine (not shown on any card) besides the paper pack and it's hard to choose which side of the paper to use since both sides are the bomb! The "Stoked", arrows in circles, >>>>>>, "one way", "or another" arrows, criss-cross border, "boys will be boys" and "EPIC" are all stamps in this kit! The motorcycle stamp is not from the kit but one I purchased in my local stamp shop and it's by Deep Red called "Hardtail Motorcycle". It went perfectly with this whole kit and I will be using it with this paper in the future!

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless!

July Giveaway Starts Today... Best Wishes Bird!

Hello and welcome!
Happy Independence Day... probably a day late as I am writing this the evening of July 4th!

This is hopefully a quick post about the July giveaway (see how to enter below) and a quick card that's for sale at the arts and crafts fair called Friday Fling in Palmer, Alaska!

My card is pretty simple in that it has some blue glitter washi tape on the side and a simple stamped image from the set by WPlus9 called "It's a New Day". I colored it with Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and it was a practice piece for using these and getting blending down. Not sure I accomplished the correct blending but I am practicing! I left the branch uncolored to give the bird center stage and you can't see by this photo but he's sparkly with Wink of Stella glitter pen. I added a sentiment from the set that is mislabeled and it was from a blog hop I won a lot of stamps in so I'll have to add the company name when I find out! If you recognize the set please leave me a comment below and tell me (and that will be an entry into the giveaway too!!). I, of course, used Gina K Designs base weight card stock as my base for this card!

July giveaway: Heidi Swapp stencil; Technique Tuesday: Learn Something by Ali Edwards stamp set; Gossamer Blue stamp set from January 2014 main kit; Quickutz/Lifestyle Crafts Dainty Doily 4" x 4" die; and multi-color sequins.

This giveaway will run through July 18th and I will pick a winner on July 19th!

To win all you have to do is:
